Method

The disciplinary framework within which the TRACE project is located is Descriptive Translation Studies (DTS) and the basic methodology used combines techniques from this field of study with those of corpus linguistics. The procedure followed is as given below:

  1. Preliminary analysis of contextual data.
  2. Cataloguing of source texts (STs) and their respective target texts (TTs).
  3. Selection of representative sets of texts.
  4. Descriptive and comparative analysis of the texts selected.
  5. Establishment of translation norms.
