The long-term goals of the TRACE project are the following:

  1. To describe the transfer conditions for different kinds of texts in 20th century Spain through the analysis of various parallel corpora consisting of the original texts and their translations.
  2. To ascertain whether the intercultural transfer guidelines were somewhat affected by the ideological constraints present in the target context and if so, whether the results could be made extensive to other ideologically charged contexts or not.
  3. To verify whether the translation practices of that period have had any influence on the subsequent textual production in Spain, on the reception of imported texts, and on the native or translated linguistic usage.

Ultimately, the goal of the TRACE project is to carry out a descriptive study of translation practices in 20th century Spain and to look for explanations about the current translation behaviour.
